Challenge expected for Wilmington hotel
The city of Wilmington is expecting a legal challenge to its deal for an upscale hotel next to the downtown convention center.
A Raleigh attorney is leading the challenge–saying the city agreed to sell the land to the developer way below market value.
The plan calls for the city to sell the land to Harmony Hospitality for $578,820.
City leaders say they expect the court to rule in their favor.
If all is resolved, an Embassy Suites with full-service restaurant is set to be built for $33.6 million.
