City council to take up WHA joint patrols
8/4/14–The Wilmington City Council is expected to continue providing funding for joint patrols of all Wilmington Housing Authority properties.
Wilmington Police and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office started the patrols last year in response to a rise in gang violence.
Leaders say having consistent law enforcement presence has been key to the decrease in violent crime.
Tomorrow night—the city council will take up a resolution to continue the project.
The council meeting is set for 6pm at City Hall.
