A Brunswick County man is being held without bond in the beating death of an 86-year-old woman.
The body of Linnie Mae Ward was discovered last week in her Longwood home.
The sheriff's office says 51-year-old Richard Grissett entered that home in a robbery attempt.
According to investigators--Ward and Grissett were acquaintances.
