"Capitol
Broadcasting Company continues to be a leader in the broadcasting
industry. CBS 10 WILM is another example of a unique broadcasting experience.
By taking a small television station, converting it to a CBS affiliate
and achieving market growth, CBC has given the Wilmington market an
alternative and quality programming that others had thought was impossible.
We've worked hard to build this station and its market share. As I
watch WILM grow into adulthood, I'm thrilled to be a part of the continual
growth of the station and to be a part of the Capitol Broadcasting
family."

Mission
Statement
As a new station in the Wilmington market, our mission is to provide
the quality programming that CBS is known for, as well as the best entertainment
that we can provide from syndicated programming. CBS 10 WILM is committed to
community involvement through a variety of public service projects. Additionally,
WILM serves the public from our state capitol through the WRAL Newscast
throughout the day.
We constantly strive
to give our viewers and our clients the best services possible through
hard work and fair business practices. The Capitol Broadcasting founders
built a reputation for quality, excellence, honesty and integrity in broadcasting,
and we are here to uphold that reputation.
By providing quality
news, excellent programming and serving the public interest, we've built
a strong station that benefits all the people we serve.
Overview
The new millennium brought new ideas and changes to the Wilmington
area. One was a vision for a new television station unique in design and
operation. By utilizing new technologies, inventing new operating procedures
and modernized business methodology, WILM is able to operate faster and
leaner than the average television station. The end result to the viewer
is the same fine quality and programming of any other station across the
country. The end result to the advertiser is lower rates because of greater
efficiency in the operation.
WILM signed on under
its new call letters and from a new facility located in the heart of Wilmington
on March 23rd, 2000. Investing in nearly all-new equipment and converting
the station to the CBS network, Capitol Broadcasting now has the ability
to provide its viewers with something very special.
Now for the first
time since the early '90's the market has its own CBS affiliate. Additionally,
Wilmington is able to receive the award-winning newscast that only WRAL-TV
can provide. This is a first for the Wilmington area. Today, viewers enjoy
the excellent CBS and syndicated programming and news from the state's
capitol city; CBS 10 WILM has seen ratings growth in every rating period since
it signed on.
Various community
service projects are a value-add to Wilmington. CBS 10 WILM proudly participates
throughout the year to help various organizations in their fundraising
efforts. Additionally, the station helps provide the community's charitable
organizations by announcing their events through our very popular "WILM
Community Calendar".
