5/12-14– Lawmakers return to Raleigh this week for the legislative short session–and a film incentives bill is on the list.
The General Assembly will decide whether to extend the benefits to film producers that expire at the end of this year.
Those incentives are believed to be a major reason film production companies spent an estimated $244 million in North Carolina in 2013, according to an audit by the NC Department of Revenue.
That same audit found that $137 million of that total was spent in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties.
In return, those companies stood to receive $61 million in rebates from the state
The short session begins Wednesday
