8/26/14– The first day of school got off to a bumpy start for some New Hanover County students after police say their bus was hit by a drunk driver.
The accident happened around 7:30 this morning near the intersection of Wrightsville and Rose avenues.
Police say a car driven by 38-year-old Robert Phillip Carroll sideswiped the bus.
One student went to the hospital to be checked out.
In all, there were 7 students on board the bus from Holly Shelter Middle School and Trask High School.
Carroll is charged with DWI and reckless driving.
