A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate to go to New York City to see the new CBS Upfront Presentation. The “Upfront Presentations” are where the big networks showcase their new fall prime time programming for the affiliates and the advertising buying agencies… and I have to say I think once again CBS Rocks! As you may know, CBS is the most watched network in the country and as such they did not need to add too many new shows to an already successful prime time schedule. I’m not just saying that because I work here… I truly believe in this network. So needless to say, I’m proud to be a part of a CBS affiliate.
Beginning in mid September there will be two new comedies and three new dramas and I love them all. The two new comedies are “Two Broke Girls” which will air Monday’s at 8:30pm and “How to be a Gentleman” which will air Thursday nights at 8:30pm.
Three new dramas will be added this year....

It’s that time of year again, and March Madness is upon us. There are big changes in how CBS Sports covers the tournament that will affect what games you will see on WILM-TV. CBS and Turner Sports have joined together to televise every single game in its entirety. This is great news for viewers with access to CBS, TNT, TBS and truTV because you will be able to watch the game of your choice. We recognize that those of you who do not have access to cable or satellite may be disappointed in the games that CBS provides us and want you to know that with this new arrangement, WILM-TV has no say in what games we air, including those of our local teams.
In an effort to help Viewers find March Madness Games, below are the instructions for your viewers looking to find out which Network is broadcasting each game and the channel number for that cable system.
1. Go to www.ncaa.com/mmod
2. Hit Launch
3. Put in zip code
4. Click on Go
5. Choose...

It’s that time of year again…. Election Season! During the month of October, Byline: Wilmington is bringing you a series of Election 2010 specials to make sure you’re well informed when casting your vote.
Here at WILM, we understand the importance of bringing you the unabridged story, so we brought the area political candidates in for a candid sit-down with Byline host, Donn Ansell. We gave house, senate, court judge and commissioner candidate’s ample time to address the issues that matter to you most.
Off-shore drilling, Titan Cement, North Carolina’s budget, unemployment and the Cape Fear Housing Authority are just a few of the topics Donn touches on as he uncovers where the candidates stand. Candidates from Thom Goolsby and Jim Leutze to Mike McIntyre and Ilario Pantano and most everyone in between square off as Donn answers sometimes tough questions.
For the month of October, Byline: Wilmington will air Sunday mornings...

Check it out... we have a new hurricane tracker. If you look on the left side of our web page in the nav bar you’ll see a link to our hurricane tracker. Right now Hurricane Earl is churning off our coast. This map shows you the current forecast track. You can add clouds, radar and computer forecast models to the map as well as moving and zooming features.
The coolest feature, in my opinion, is the distance measure. If you move your mouse over a city it will show you how far that city is from the hurricane.
Let’s all hope and pray that we don’t see any hurricanes around here, but this is an excellent tool to help you keep track of the latest information about the tropics.

Looking ahead to the 4th of July weekend… CBS 10 WILM will be airing the movie “Die Another Day” on Saturday from 9 – 11:30PM. If you are recording the movie, I suggest you add a few minutes to the end of the recording as CBS tells us it might run a little long.
On Sunday our annual Boston Pops Fireworks special will air at 10PM. This is always a spectacular event.
I hope you and your family have a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!

After the loss of the NCIS Finale on Charter Cable last night, I’ve got more information for you about where to see it. I’ve talked to CBS and unfortunately it is not possible for us to re-air it over-the-air on WILM-TV but we did find the “Rule Fifty-One” episode on CBS.com.
As of this writing it has not been posted on the “CBS All Your Characters…” video player that is linked to our home page but it is on CBS.com so you can go there right now to see the entire NCIS Finale.
Enjoy the show.

Unfortunately for Charter customers in the southern end of New Hanover County NCIS lost about 30 minutes of the its finale. We had several calls about it during the show and our master control operator was working hard to get to Charter engineers to correct the problem. Their engineers were working on it but it took most of the show to get it back on the cable system.
While this is an unfortunate loss of the shows live airing, the good news is that you can catch up on this show by going to http://www.wilm-tv.com/video_player/ or click on the "CBS All Your Favorite Charactor's..." banner just above this blog on the home page... from there look at the list on the right side and select NCIS. You’re looking for episode “Rule Fifty-One”. They had not posted the new episode as of this writing but I’m hoping it will be up there today.
