The NC Court of Appeals is weighing the case of a Wilmington couple who sued the NC State Vet School for the death of their dog.
The school admitted negligence, and gave Herb and Nancy Shera the amount it would cost to replace Laci.
But lawyers for the couple say the dog was worth much more--and they are asking for about $28,000.
The couple says the suit is not about money, but about recognizing the value of a pet.
