A Wilmington Fire Department Battalion Chief has been placed on unpaid leave after a undergoing a breathalyzer test at the scene of this morning's train derailment.
Battalion Chief Jimmy Casteen was on duty about 5am when the train derailed in front of the Love Grove Community.
At some point, he was given a breath test and driven home.
The fire department is conducting an internal investigation.
Meanwhile, officials are calling the train car removal a labor intensive exercise that will likely go well into the evening.
The cars left the tracks but did not overturn.
There is flammable liquid on board but officials say there have been no leaks.
