A settlement has been reached between UNC-Wilmington and the family of Peyton Strickland.
The 18-year-old was shot to death in 2006 by a New Hanover County Sheriff's Deputy trying to serve a warrant on behalf of the UNC-W police department.
The University will pay Strickland's estate $150,000 and will spend another $100,000 to better train campus police.
