We're learning more details about a deputy-involved shooting in New Hanover County.
Authorities say Deputy Joshua Cranford was on routine patrol in the Castle Hayne area when he shot 23-year-old Darius Hester.
Officials still haven't said what led to the shooting.
Hester was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators say he will be charged with attempted first degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official.
Deputy Cranford is on administrative duty pending an investigation by the SBI, which is standard procedure when a law enforcement officer is involved in a shooting.
Cranford has been with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office since 2009.
