WPD reviews canine program
The Wilmington Police Department is consulting with two experts after a police dog injured a man who appeared to be surrendering.
The November incident was caught on video when officers tried to arrest a man they say fled a DWI checkpoint.
The department is reviewing its canine policies and procedures to see if any changes need to be made to the program.
A retired police chief from New Hampshire and a former Wilmington Police captain who helped form the canine program will consult with the department.
